Hi friends, and welcome to my corner! I'm a new Dallas Resident as of Summer 2022. I am also an undergrad student working on her regional planning degree. Death care is something else that's incredibly important to me; I'll be attending mortuary school soon after I finish my undergrad. I was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived briefly in Kansas City before that. I am a "retired" theatre kid, but have maintained a big love for it even after my time ran in that particular world. I also enjoy a great ballet performance (and class), concerts, and books; my love for horror and sci-fi has recently been informing much of my creativity and creative processes in my photography and design and it's something that's been an absolute joy to do and engage with.
I initially became interested in photography while in high school; I was blessed with an incredibly engaging and creative teacher that planted the bug in me. I started out, though, as a really involved theatre kid, but my camera quickly took up a larger residence in my heart and I haven't looked back since. I thoroughly enjoy most types of photography, as long as they're captivating and forcing me outside of my box. Pre-Covid 19, I was happily working on expanding my portfolio of live shows, concerts, and events, as Las Vegas was the PERFECT place to do that with endless and constant concerts and theatrical shows that were popular with tourists, as well as local shows and acts that were great to work with. I also believe that quarantine gave me a fantastic opportunity to work more on different styles as well, tough, and for that I am also grateful. I really enjoy editorial, portrait, abstract, and film photography as well, though I've also had a major affinity for boudoir as well over the last two or three years.
Although my path of a student is wildly different from my passion for photography, my love of photography and the process of creating images far precedes what I'm getting my degree in. My love for photography has turned into something so far beyond my wildest imagination. I was also blessed enough in high school to have formed a great relationship with the photography teacher on campus who later became in invaluable mentor and inspiration in my adult life. My camera became my best friend and confidant, and became my favourite way to express myself and show others how I view the world around me. It offers a different kid of accessibility to me and to others that I never could have imagined in life before embarking on a journey like this of my own. I've genuinely enjoyed meeting others who find the same joy and gratification in this art as I do, and the relationships I've formed are some of my most precious and beautiful relationships in my adulthood.
Being able to tell the stories of the people around me and showcase all different types of beauty in this world gives me so much gratitude for the diversity of the human experience. There's constantly so much going on and so much to learn and see and teach; I am forever indebted to those that are trusting and gracious enough to let me in to see the most vulnerable and intimate slivers of time in their lives. In every process, I learn more and more about myself as well, which I believe can also very much inform how I go about my own life and create my art.
Thank you for getting this far if you have, and I look forward to hearing from you!
